Issue #3

Wow we're into week four already, how time flies! Freshers’ Week seems like a distant memory already.  As always we'd like to send out a big thank you to all staff who helped make it the amazing week it was.  We saw a variety of entertainment, from a tribute Britney Spears act on the Tuesday to a showcase of our thespians on the Sunday night.  If you click on the photo below it will take you to our photos from Freshers' Week.

Our first three Friday nights have been a massive success too.  To keep up-to-date with events and to view photos from our Friday nights 'like' our events page on Facebook: @yourunionevents

News

Services:

We have launched a new cocktail menu in Beacon Bar.We're keeping our classics but have added several new cocktails and mocktails to our list. The cocktail menu was launched in conjunction with Alibi our new Thursday night in Beacon Bar.

Our next big night on the calendar is Halloween. We are going all out this year, from skeletons in Sandy's to brains in Beacon.  The building will be transported into a hellish Halloween spectacular.

We'd love to see staff dressing up too for our all building extravaganza.  Prizes will be won for best dressed!

Representation:

This years sabbaticals are concentrating particularly on student engagement.  The photograph below is from a successful coffee and croissants morning they held in Beacon Bar to encourage students to drop by and ask them questions.  For those of you who don't yet know our sabbaticals are: Lewis Wood, President; Claire Shirey, Director of Wellbeing; Hannah Jacobs, Director of Events and Services; Charlotte Flatley, Director of Student Development and Activities; Zachary Davis,  Director of Education; Tom Abbott, Athletic Union President.

Nominations for the new Rector have just closed and results for the winning candidate will be announced on Friday the 13th October. Keep up-to-date with what's happening here.  The picture below is the Rectorial Elections Team.

Societies and Activities:

We have been working with the societies committee to encourage societies to use our new events calendar.  We are in the process of allowing all societies and sub committees access to this so bear with us as it's a work in progress but in the very near future this will hopefully be a one stop shop for societies and subcommittees to have their events.

Updates in and around the building:
