The Association

The University of St Andrews Students’ Association sits at the heart of the Campus - recently voted as No. 1 University in the UK and with a reputation to protect. Our facilities form an intrinsic part of the student experience and with over 9,000 members, we provide a range of services including advice, representation, catering and four bars. Our Cash Office team provide support to our student officers and staff across the whole range of our activities. We are the primary entertainments venue for St Andrews’ students, and support a thriving student scene with over 140 affiliated societies.

 

Your role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and digitally aware Design and Media Assistant to help deliver our engagement strategy by building the profile of what we do both internally and externally in the Students’ Association.

 

You will work with the Design and Marketing Manager to help promote what the Students’ Association offers to students, staff and external bodies, covering its many services from nightclubs and catering to student representation, student society activities and any new developments. The ideal candidate will have a passion in photography, videography, graphic design, social media, with some experience in digital marketing and communications.

 

Most importantly this role is about getting the message of what we do out to students.  This is a fun role for an outgoing person. Someone who can relate and engage with students is critical. 

 

In this role you’ll capture our activities to inform all our stakeholders about our services. You will be given initial briefs for projects and you should be able to work as a team or independently to plan, record and create content.

 

This is an ideal post for a candidate looking to cover a variety of projects and develop skills.

 

Description of Specific Duties

 

  • Under the direction of the Design and Marketing Manager create, edit and maintain content across the organisation’s communication platforms including all social media channels and the Students’ Association website.
  • Contribute to the collection, collation and distribution of accurate, current and relevant information and materials to support Students’ Association activities.
  • Help in the creation and the promotion of marketing small and large scale events and activities. 
  • As requested, work with students on a one-to-one basis to help with their design requests.

Photography and videography skills

 

Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premier Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator

Knowledge/experience of students’ associations/unions

 

Experience of web editing

 

Previous marketing experience

Highly organised with a keen eye for design and detail
