Services

Our Halloween event Fright Night was a sell-out event and had a definite wow factor as Adam hired in amazing decorations to dress Club 601 and the Ents did an amazing job of decorating and lighting the piazza too. The below film shows the amazing set-up.

After the success of last year’s Twelve Days of Christmas Campaign we’re running something similar again this year.  It’s a great time of year to showcase all our services in one place, highlighting that everything from £5 Christmas Dinners to Doggy Destress events are all from “Your Union.”

education and wellbeing

The Director of Education and Director of Wellbeing have been working with Andy from the Marketing Department to create some handy exam tip videos for students which will be released during the revision and exam period - the most stressful time of year for most. Watch them on our YouTube channel.

societies and activities

It’s a busy time of year for societies too, with winter showcases rounding up a semester of rehearsals, shows and collaborations.  Below is a sneaky peak of what an average week in the Union can look like (the photos below were taken in week 11 from top to bottom, left to right they are Dance Club Winter Showcase in The Stage, Doggy Destress in Club 601, Just So's set-up in The Main Bar Diner before the Christmas Ball, Comedy Soc and Music is Love in Sandy's Bar and a collaboration with Jazz Works in The Main Bar Diner).

Week 10 was Nightline Awareness Week.  Nightline is run totally by students for students who want to talk to someone outside normal opening hours. The image below is a display in Rector’s Café.  Each star represents an anonymous volunteer who helps to keep the service running.

updates in and around the building

The Festive Season can be a difficult time for anyone, with long dark nights and rainy days not everyone is filled with festive cheer so we want to spread some fun this December. Lots of the Association staff will be wearing Christmas clothing for the month of December to raise money for the Scottish Association for Mental Health. SAMH is a charity that operate services in communities across Scotland providing mental health social care support, homelessness, addictions and employment services amongst others.

Want to join in?  Friday 14th December is this year's University Staff Christmas Party Day which is open to all but it is also NATIONAL CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY so pop on your pullover and bring a smile to someone’s face this December.

Christmas Closure:

We’re closed from Saturday 22nd December and will re-open on Monday 7thJanuary.
