About me

Literature, to me, is a form of empathy. As President of the School of English this year, my goal is to create an empathetic environment through the revitalization of our inclusive practices, disability policies, and curriculum content.

I hope to not only be the microphone through which students of the School can voice their concerns and ideas, but a bridge between students and staff to improve the environment of the School of English for everyone. This year as President I am aiming to improve student wellbeing by creating new student-run committees on issues of equality and diversity within the School, and I also hope to run a number of collaborative events with Schools we have not previously worked with before. Furthermore, I will work with my dedicated team of class representatives to diligently collect feedback that will improve student experience. Whether it’s about a new careers event you would like to see put on or resources we offer like the Writing Lab, opening the gateway to better communication is truly the key to success for improving the experience of being in the School of English.

Speaking of communication, you can reach me at englishpresident@ with any questions you may have, and if you see me around St Andrews, please don’t hesitate to stop for a chat!

Don’t forget you can always get the latest School updates via my weekly emails or by visiting our Facebook page, @StAndrewsEnglish. I can’t wait to meet you all this year, and I look forward to improving the School of English together as a community!
