About the Position

Amanda Thompson, as the Carers, Commuters, Mature, and Flexible Learners Officer, leads the subcommittee to represent student carers, commuters, mature and flexible learner students and help integrate them into all aspects of university life.

Specifically, the Carers, Commuters, Mature, and Flexible Learners Officer:

  • Leads the Carers, Commuters, Mature, and Flexible Learners Subcommittee.
  • Ensures student carers, commuters, mature, part-time, evening, and online learners are represented and have the same opportunities as other students within the university.
  • Works with the university to promote St Andrews to carers, commuters, mature and flexible learners.
  • Ensures Association policy is inclusive of the demographics covered by the subcommittee.
  • Sits on the SRC and Equality subcommittees.
  • Liaises with the university and other SRC officers to advocate for the subcommittee’s demographics.

Role holders take office in April and end their term the following March. On average, the Carers, Commuters, Mature and Flexible Learners Officer spends between 5 and 10 hours per week on their role.
