We have a range of casual staff job opportunities available at Your Union, pop along to Club 601 foyer on Wednesday 8th April to find out about the jobs available for next year.

We support an extensive system of student representatives on both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have a thriving student activities scene with over 150 affiliated societies, serve as the primary entertainments venue for St Andrews students, and provide a range of services including two coffee shops and four bars.

We currently employ over 100 casual staff to support our commercial and building operations, in a range of roles including bar staff, event safety, cleaners, reception and coffee shop assistants. These jobs are mostly filled by students, who play a unique role working alongside our experienced core of permanent staff to bring the highest levels of service and help make your student experience truly memorable.

Some of the positions we're looking to fill are listed below:

EVENT STAFF: Helping to maintain a safe environment for our members and staff, while also dealing with general customer service issues. Working mainly at the front of house. Duties include; controlling entry to events, monitoring venue numbers, signing in guests, evacuation procedures. As the first and last point of contact for our members; excellent customer care skills are a must! For Event Staff, we will pay for SIA training and registration for the right candidates who wish to progress to become Door Supervisors.

Late evening shifts | Full training will be provided

DOOR SUPERVISORS: Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our members and staff, while also dealing with general customer service issues. Working front of house duties include conflict resolution, correct application of licensing law, drug searches and seizures, entry and evacuation procedures.  You may also be assisting in major events, securing the stage for high profile acts and artists. 

As the first and last point of contact for our members; excellent customer care skills are a must!

Late evening shifts | Please note that for door supervisor vacancies you must already hold a current SIA Door Supervisor licence. 

CLEANERS: Performing general cleaning duties in commercial and non-commercial areas. Morning work will involve early shifts, starting from 7am (8am on weekends).

Full training will be given.

CAFE STAFF:  You would be working within a lively team of staff to provide catering services such as preparing, selling and serving a variety of hot and cold food and beverages within our 2 sites: Rectors Café and the Old Union Coffee shop on North Street where you will be serving public and student customers.

All staff will be provided with an induction and several training sessions on all areas of the café including the till and espresso machine to allow for the smooth running of the coffee shops. 

Hours are variable but we do look for staff to be available for a minimum of 2 shifts per week (roughly 10 -15 hrs per week) including day, evening weekdays and weekend shifts.  If you would like to know more and can't make the event please contact sacatering@

BAR STAFF: As a member of the Union bar staff team you’ll cover a variety of roles.  You will be trained on the Cloakroom and Box Office and will be required to work in these areas on occasion.  You will cover the union bar but also some external events.  This a fast paced job which can be a lot of fun. Hours are variable but we do require staff to work at least 2 shifts per week
