All of our events are shaped by students, and designed exclusively for students. There's plenty of ways to get involved, whether it's technical, DJing, design or PR. For all of these options, there's no prior experience required, as we can train you in how to program a lighting desk or using photoshop. There's also no commitment needed, we're happy you to just try it - they don't even charge membership, as they are sub-committees of the Association.
But if you have a great idea for an event that you want to see happen, or want to work on improving them - or even if you just want to play with them shiny toys - or that you have a great idea you want to see happen, there's plenty of scope for you to get involved.
Our Ents Crew run every single event in the Union. They provide the technical support and DJs for student-run events and the headline events of Freshers Week. They are entirely student volunteers, who enjoy the challenge of making the event as good as possible. They get to work with big name acts, build their CVs and have a laugh in a team environment. Check our their page for information in how to get involved.
Their involvement in events spans from the finer details of an event to representation on the SSC, deciding Union policy and decisions. They approve the Union's event and suggest ideas to the DoES, manage the Bop lineup, support RAG Week and On The Rocks. Ents run User Groups at Wednesday, 1pm in the Meeting Room which is a step of booking and planning events, where they'll advise you on how best to design your event. To get involved, they meet on Wednesday at 5pm in the Meeting Room.
Essentially, Ents are here to help; and students are at the heart of our events.
Design & PR Team
We are also supported by the talented Design & PR Team, who make sure our marketing reaches you. You can get involved in how we market our events, the artwork on our posters and creative ways to ring people into the Union. The volunteers enjoy coming up with new strategies, and also recieve free entry to every Union event! They'll often be armed with special offers, so keep an eye out for what they're doing. The Design Team specialise in supporting societies in creating posters and explaining photoshop, so can help support your event. Both are sub-committees, so are entirely free to join - but there's no commitment, so you can just try both of them and see if you like it!
