Music is Love is a group dedicated to fostering the music scene within St Andrews, whether by booking gigs, facilitating student events or collaborating with other societies. Over the past few years, we have brought local, national and international talent to St Andrews and created a tightly-knit community for musicians and music-lovers alike. If you have a passion for music and a drive to share your favourite acts - student or professional - then we would love to meet you! Here is a bit more about what we get up to during the year:

GIGS: Since its inception, one of Music is Love's key roles has been to arrange and publicise professional gigs to serve the local music scene. Working with Fence Records in 2012, we helped organise the Eye o' the Dug festival featuring acclaimed artists Francois and the Atlas Mountains, King Creosote, KT Tunstall, James Yorkston, Django Django and Hot Chip. Recently, we have seen the likes of Boddika, Mungo’s HiFi, Machines in Heaven, Messenger Sound System, Meursault, the Badwills among many others. With our bookings, we strive to consider the student body at large and cater to all music tastes—from indie to techno.

STUDENT MUSIC: We are committed to offering opportunities for student musicians in St Andrews. We hold regular open mic nights where artists can showcase their own music or simply play covers for an audience. We host popular musicians' speed dating events: an excellent and enjoyable way to meet like-minded student musicians looking to form bands. An important part of our job is to facilitate equipment hire and tech support as well as funding musical projects if any individual or society would like to run an independent gig or event.

Check out our recent and upcoming events on the Music is Love Facebook page or @musicislove_sta Twitter handle.

We are always looking for new enthusiastic students who are eager to get involved and help us cultivate the St Andrews music scene! Our weekly meetings are open to all.
