Meet people, do stuff.
Madrigal Group

Auditioned student-led choir that sings unaccompanied repertoire ranging from 16th century to contemporary choral works.

St Andrews Madrigal Group is an auditioned student-led choir, founded in 1946 by Evelyn Webb. Initially, the choir focused on madrigals; however, the group now covers a wide range of unaccompanied repertoire from all periods.

Though rehearsals are only once a week, the group prides itself in its ability to perform to a high standard and cover a vast array of music throughout the year. The choir performs at least two concerts each semester, and sings at key university events such as the Gaudie Pier Walk and the Holocaust Memorial Service each year. Joining Madrigal Group also grants recording opportunities, as the choir has recorded various CDs throughout the past decade.

Additionally, the group tours twice a year, both across the UK during summer and internationally during the winter break. Recent international tours have included:

  • Prague, Czech Republic
  • Rome, Italy
  • Helsinki, Finland

Auditions are held each year during Orientation Week, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
