The Music Society’s flagship ensemble returns for their second concert of the academic year. Under the direction of Chris George (former leader of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra) the Orchestra will play some of the most iconic works of the 19th and 20th centuries. The performance will begin with Shostakovich's wonderfully triumphant Festive Overture. The Orchestra will then welcome back the brilliant Viv McLean (First Prize, Maria Canals Piano competition, 2002) for a performance of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin before finishing in the second half with Tchaikovsky's magnificent 5th Symphony.
