Postgraduate Taught President
William represents and leads the PGT Rep system.
About the Role
The Postgrad Taught President represents PGT students’ interests in academic issues to the University and within the Students’ Association.
Specifically, the Postgraduate Academic Officer:
- Represents postgraduate taught students in academic matters.
- Line-manages the Postgraduate Taught and EDI Officers
- Trains the aboveofficers and regularly update training for PG Course Representatives.
- Publicises PGT Elections and answer queries.
- Updates the PGT Academic section of the Association website.
- Is the postgraduate student member on the Academic Senate, Learning and Teaching Committee, Postgraduate Group, and Academic Monitoring Group.
- Attends PGT Forum.
- Attends or delegate representatives to other committees and working groups as invited to represent postgraduate taught students.
- Sits on the Education Executive Committee, and Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
- Regularlt attends the Education Committee and Undergraduate Academic Forum when requested
- Updates Postgraduate Taught Representatives on issues affecting the PGT community
- Writes emails to the whole postgraduate taught community to inform them of relevant updates.
- Liaises with the Provost’s Office about postgraduate academic issues.
- Liaises with the PresEd, School Presidents, other elected officers, and St Leonard’s College.
- Liaises with the Academic Representation Coordinator to produce resources for Reps and the PGT community.
Note on Eligibility: Only postgraduate students matriculated for the full term of office may run for this role during the Academic Elections in Semester One.
Role holders take office in October and end their term the following October. On average, the Postgraduate Research President spends a minimum of 16 hours per week on their role.
Previous Holders
In 2023 the role of Postgraduate Academic officer was split into two roles, the Postgraduate Taught President and the Postgraduate Research President.
