Grant-It Ideas: Activities

The Activities Team offers funding to affiliated societies and student groups, primarily from profits within the Union’s bars and cafes. We aim to support society growth, accessibility, sustainability, collaboration, and enhanced student experiences.

 

Application and Claims Process

Application Process

Due to limited funds, we will be unable to grant requests over £500, and we ask that societies with a bank balance of £5000 or over refrain from applying.

  1. Prepare Application: You must procure the following information for your application:
    • Name of society.
    • Society Email.
    • Name and Position in your society.
    • Point of contact.
    • Name of the event (for which the money will be used)
    • Amount Requested.
    • Reasoning.
    • Working Budget for your society.
    • Budget for the event.
    • Risk Assessment (if neccessary).
  2. Submission: Please submit this information through the following microsoft form: Application Link
  3. Review and Notification: The Grants panel reviews applications on the last Tuesday of each month.  If you have requested a significant grant, you will be invited to discuss your application with the Grants panel on the Tuesday of whichever month you applied. You will receive a decision via email by the following Friday. Should we require more information for your grant to be approved, we will provide further information about next steps. Meeting dates for semester 2 are as follows:
    • Tuesday 24th February 2026
    • Tuesday 31st March 2026
    • Tuesday 28th April 2026
  4. Reflective Report: Should you receive money from the Fund, you must submit a short reflective report within 7 days of the end of the event/project, through the Reporting Form.

 

Claims Process

  1. Redeeming Funds: Successful applicants must have the grant receipt signed by both the President and Treasurer. Receipts or invoices are then presented to the Cash Office, which can also arrange advance payments if an invoice is provided.
  2. Restrictions: Grants cannot be used to reimburse alcohol purchases, although events may include alcohol.
