Director of Wellbeing (DoWell), in charge of: Welfare, Equal Opportunities, Saints LGBT+, Democracy, Stand Together
Hello! I’m Emma and I am your Director of Wellbeing for 2020/21. I represent students on matters relating to Student Wellbeing and Equal Opportunities and will run this year’s Student Association Elections in Semester 2. To find out more about these areas, have a look below.
St Andrews is an incredible place, but university life isn’t always easy and I am here to help make your student experience as positive as possible. Please feel free to get in touch with me at anytime, either through my email or by popping into my office on the 1st floor of the Student’s Union.
Wellbeing and Welfare
Within my role, I work on student wellbeing and welfare, mental, sexual and physical health, security and personal safety. I chair the Wellbeing Subcommittee, which promotes all areas of student wellbeing through events and themed weeks, as well as running safety campaigns linked to Raisin and May Dip. I also work closely with multiple student groups including StAnd Together, Nightline and Saints LGBT+, and work with Student Services and the University, representing students on issues related to student wellbeing.
I line manage a number of SRC councillors, helping them to represent students on equal opportunities issues including racial equality, gender equality, age equality, disabilities, students from widening access and participation backgrounds and LGBT+ students. As part of this, I chair the Equal Opportunities Subcommittee. I also work on interfaith issues and represent students to the university on equality and diversity issues by sitting on a range of committees and working groups.
As Director of Wellbeing, I will organise this year’s Student Association Elections! Student Association Councils is a great way to get involved in the Student Association and make a difference in the student community.
