About me

Hi, I’m Bhani! I grew up in Glasgow — though my accent tends to confuse people into guessing just about anywhere else. I’ve always been fascinated by mathematics, not just in the way it solves problems, but in how it quietly shapes beauty itself — from the spirals of galaxies to the sketches in my notebook. The Fibonacci sequence, for instance, appears everywhere: in seashells, in great works of art, and even in the patterns I find myself drawing. Outside of maths, I love cooking and baking — though with what feels like n! allergies, it’s often a creative challenge. No matter the time or place, you’ll usually find me with a cup of tea in hand, or chatting away in the Physics Café. As President, my aim is to make the School of Mathematics & Staticstics as welcoming and accessible as possible. I’m passionate about improving resources for all learning styles, creating opportunities to connect across year groups, and showcasing the beauty and breadth of mathematics — whether through mentoring, speaker events, or socials. I’m excited to represent our community this year and can’t wait to work with you all to ensure every student feels supported, inspired, and part of the equation!
