About my position
I work within the Admissions Department along with six Vice Principals to run the Ambassador Scheme. This involves working with around 400 Student Ambassadors to organise and run Visiting Days, Widening Access Projects and External Events such as school visits and Offer Holder Events across the country. On top of this, we run daily visitor experience sessions, partake in university photoshoots and provide tours for visitors & VIPs.
How my position affects you
Any student that attended any University events before starting at St Andrews will have had interaction with a student ambassador. I personally remember who I met on the Open Day I attended and they were a major factor in my decision to come to St Andrews. It is great to be able to represent the Uni and support prospective students through their decision-making process. Students have the opportunity to become an Ambassador twice a year when we open applications (September and February). This is a great opportunity for individuals to improve their CV and gain valuable and transferable skills.
From a tiny village just outside Stirling, I am a 4th year studying International Relations. I have been involved in the Ambassador Scheme since I started at St Andrews three years ago. It is such a great group to be involved in. Not only do you get to interact with lots of prospective students, but you also get to make amazing friends and improve your CV. Last year I held the position of Vice Principal for Admissions Tours and was keen to further expand my involvement this year.
Groups I work with
