Statement from Your Union about the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act 2010

In light of the Supreme Court ruling on the interpretation of sex and gender under the Equality Act, and consequent political activity, we thought it helpful to clarify and re-iterate our stance as an organisation.

The use of our gendered facilities like toilets in our commercial venues and society spaces operate on principles of respect and tolerance from everyone.

We do not ask our members or customers to disclose private information or identify their gender to us.

In any instance that these principles are violated, we enforce a strict zero tolerance policy, and our staff have been trained accordingly.

Please never hesitate to seek support from any member of staff if you feel unsafe in our spaces.

We believe that all our members, regardless of their identity, will always be treated fairly and equally in Your Union.
