St Andrews University Christian Union
St Andrews University Christian Union exists to give every student in St Andrews the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ. We are a society made up of Christian students from many church backgrounds and experiences, united around seeking to share our faith in Jesus with our fellow students!
You don’t need to be a Christian to come along. You don’t need to be a member of CU either. And most of our events are completely free. Whether you’re a Christian, curious about faith, unsure what you believe, have questions about Christianity, or just want to meet some new people, you’re very welcome.
What do we do?
We want CU to be a place where students can meet Christians, explore Christianity and ask honest questions about faith.
We also want to be open about what we believe. We believe that the message of Jesus is genuinely good news, and that knowing Jesus matters, not just for life at university, but for eternity. For this reason, we want everyone to have the opportunity to hear that message for themselves and decide what they think.
That means our events are a place where we’ll talk openly about Jesus, the Bible and what we believe. You’re welcome to listen, ask difficult questions, bring your doubts and be honest about what you think. Below are all of the different things the CU has running on a regular basis. We also have different events running throughout the year including ceilidhs, a carol service, Gin & Jazz, our yearly ball and a whole week of free events in February! International Café (@sauicafe)
International Café is open to everyone, it's a great place to meet people over food from different cuisines from around the world. Come along, grab some food, meet some new people and enjoy a relaxed evening together.
Open Bibles
Open Bibles runs straight after International Café. It’s an informal opportunity to explore the Bible together and ask questions about what it says about Jesus and the Christian faith. You don't need any previous knowledge of the Bible, you're welcome whether you've read the Bible loads or if you never have!
Equip
Equip is our weekly CU gathering, where we come together to hear from the Bible, think about what it means to follow Jesus and explore the Christian faith together. Anyone is welcome to come along to this, whether you're already a Christian or just keen to hear more about what we believe.
Prayer Meeting
We also meet together to pray for our university, our friends, the work of CU and the world; as well as encouraging one another in our faith.
Toastie Bar (Instagram: @toastiebar)
Every other Friday night, you can get 50p toasties from 11pm until 2am at Toastie Bar. It’s a great place to grab some food, meet people and recharge after a night out.
