We are very excited to continue collaborating on events/initiatives with various other societies this year, and continuing to promote cue sports within various student communities. We also run an accessible pool session every second Saturday 12pm-2pm, a Monthly Medals flyer and fun socials throughout the year such as Christmas dinner, our annual end of year '8-Ball', potlucks, pub socials and more!
Pool Soc is an amazing way to meet some amazing people! Even if you know nothing about pool, give us a try and be quickly welcomed into a fun, close community.
Competitive Pool information!
We run internal tournaments throughout the year for all ability levels. Our singles tournament, the GD cup, runs every semester. Our doubles tournament (the DD cup) matches newer players with more experienced players in the society, and the LF cup is ran for women by women in the society. We also host an Open tournament where all players can challenge each other to matches and collect points for winning and drawing throughout the semester. These tournaments are a highlight of our semester, culminating in Adam Fleming Finals Day, in which the championship matches are played once per semester.
If you’re keen for another night of pool a week, we also have both an A-team and B-team playing in the local Fife pool league. This is an exciting introduction to more competitive pool, and a great opportunity to visit some local pubs and meet some real characters in the East Neuk. These matches are played weekly on a Wednesday, either home in the Union or away in a number of venues along the coast.
Our society competes in several BUCS events each year, including 8-ball pool, 9-ball pool, and snooker. It’s a great opportunity to bond with pool people, and play against other universities in a competitive environment. We also play in some Scottish tournaments, including EoS (East of Scotland) and SUPA.
Membership Info:
Following Freshers' Week, all society events will require membership to attend. Membership can be purchased through this website below, or by finding a committee member in person at an event (payment via cash/card accepted). Membership cards will be given out to all paid members.
