Philosophy Society

The Philosophy Society hosts weekly talks from leading academic philosophers, as well as discussion groups and social events throughout the year.

Founded in 2002, the Philosophy Society consists of a community of people, from first year to PhD students to lecturers, who want to have an opportunity to engage with the discipline outside of the classroom setting.

We host weekly talks on a variety of topics and invite everyone, regardless of their degree subject or level of prior knowledge, to attend. We aim to provide a space in which students feel like they are able to participate in the dynamic environment of academic philosophy.

Throughout the year, we host other events including: pub quizzes, garden party socials, joint-events with other societies, debates, and more.

Since 2007, we have published Aporia, a regular undergraduate philosophy journal. We also publish "Femporia" or the Feminist Edition of Aporia. Each year we recruit an editorial team who develop useful skills in editing and publishing in the context of philosophy.
