Inclusive platform for formal discussions on political and social affairs in Hong Kong

HKPASS aims to promote free and open discussions on significant issues concerning Hong Kong, ideal for students from Hong Kong who wish to maintain their involvement with developments at home, or for anyone from the University community who take an interest in the politics and affairs of Hong Kong, China, and the wider Asia-Pacific region. There will be a biannual newsletter open for submission for those keen on any Hong Kong issues at all - Content will include Hong Kong History, Language, Culture, and Current Affairs.

Events from the academic year 2021-22 have included:

  • A public debate in Lower Parliament Hall that provided students with the opportuity to engage directly with Benedict Rogers, the founder of Hong Kong Watch.
  • Screenings of Hong Kong films such as Ten Years, Beyond the Dream etc. 
  • A bake sale of Hong Kong snacks - the profit of which was donated to a humanitarian charity in aid of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
