The University's oldest society, promoting Scottish Culture through Scottish Country Dance and Scottish Gaelic Language Classes.
The Celtic and Ceilidh Society, St Andrews' oldest and friendliest society, embraces all things Scottish! We specialise in Beginner's Gaelic classes and most of all Ceilidh and Scottish Country Dance classes!
Our Gaelic classes which started up again in January 2020 cater to beginners with our lovely teacher, Andrew, leading the class every Tuesday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the St Andrews Union. Check out our Facebook page or email us (celticsoc@) for more information!
Our Scottish Country Dance classes cater to all levels, whether you simply want to survive a ceilidh, or show off on stage with our demonstration team. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Our dance classes are at 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Sundays in Boys Brigade Hall.
Outside of class we hold frequent socials with Movie Nights featuring different Scottish movies - yes there is more than just Braveheart! After classes we frequently go to the pub or to Jannetta's for ice cream! Join us for a real Scottish experience which combines the traditional with kilt-fulls of fun!
