We are calling on students to stand in solidarity with Dr Antonis Vradis, a lecturer at the University of St Andrews, who has reportedly been intercepted and detained by Israeli authorities while aboard the Aqnnir La Cirena as part of the Global Foundry Flotilla.
The University has been working on this since last night, they are in regular contact with our MP and are also in touch with Antonis's family. We urge students to email the Foreign Minister and Embassy of Israel demanding the release of all those detained as soon as possible.
You can ensure that this situation receives the urgent attention it deserves:
- Email the Foreign Minister and Embassy of Israel expressing your concern about Dr Vradis’ situation
- Urge them to make sure they do all in their power to get him home
- Demand transparency and assurances regarding his safety and rights
Collective action will make a difference! Speak up, stay informed, and support efforts to uphold the rights and safety of our community.
Antonis has always been a powerful ally to students and the student voice, particularly on University Court and Academic Senate, he has been there for us and now is our chance to be there for him.
