Hello! My name is Emma Thompson. I'm originally from Washington, D.C. and am a final year Modern History and International Relations Undergrad. This year I was appointed Principal Ambassador, head of the principal ambassador team.
The first of my responsibilities, as mentioned above, is to manage the Principal Ambassador Team. Together, we work with the Student Ambassadors, the University, and Students' Association to coordinate visiting days and other ad hoc tours and events for prospective/incoming students and their families.
The Student Ambassador scheme is a great opportunity for students to represent the University, engage young people with the possibility of attending University, and a whole range of other, sometimes paid, jobs!
Visiting Days in particular offer opportunities to give tours, answer questions and welcome prospective students to St Andrews during term time. Throughout the year, Ambassadors will be offered jobs to do with media and press work, greeting VIP visitors, Graduation Ceremonies and more.
The principal ambassador team also heads up Widening Access & Participation (WA&P) projects with the University. WA&P projects work with local school and college pupils to promote the value of learning and of post-secondary education through a variety of projects including mentoring, shadowing days, First Chances.
If you have any questions about the Student Ambassador Scheme, or want to get in touch drop email@example.com and email or visit our Facebook page.
