Hello! My name is Charlie Maguire and I'm this year's Principal Ambassador!

Hello! My name is Charlie Maguire and this year I was appointed Principal Ambassador. I'm originally from Windermere, in the Lake District, UK and am hoping to finish up studying Management and International Relations this year.

The Principal Ambassador heads up The Student Ambassadors. My role, working with seven Vice-Principals, coordinates both Widening Participation and Visiting Days projects for the university. The Student Ambassadors work on a whole range of, sometimes paid, opportunities!

Widening Participation projects work with local school and college pupils to promote the value of learning and of post-secondary education through mentoring and shadowing projects, Space School, First Chances and more. Visiting Days offer opportunities to help promote the university to prospective students by giving tours, answering questions and welcoming students to St Andrews throughout the academic year. And, as the university's representatives, Ambassadors are called on for media and press work, greeting VIP visitors, Graduation Ceremonies and more.
