About my position

The SSC Member Without Portfolio is elected by students in March each year. I help with publicising all the events, meetings and work that Association Councils are doing for the student body. I'll be behind all graphic designs, social media posts and a few emails to help you learn more Union events and the many ways we can support you! Feel free to contact me specifically also about what subcommittees are doing on the Student Services Council!

How my position affects you

I am responsible for ensuring that the Student Services Councils (SSC) continues to be transparent and accessible to the entire student body. I'll be a point of contact for any student to learn more about the Union, the subcommittees and events Councils are hosting!

About me

I'm currently a 4th year studying Economics and International Relations. I was born and raised in the Philippines but I lived in Singapore and Japan before coming to UK for uni. I ran for SSC Member Without Portfolio because I envision a more inclusive, transparent and accessible Student Council that engages more with the wider university student body, and where every student has the confidence to freely express themselves on the issues that matters most to them. Please feel free to contact me anytime and anywhere! I hope to help you as much as I can! fun fact: my full name is 7 names long which has made over 25 regularly used nicknames over my lifetime

Groups I work with

My manifesto pledges

Agendas ready to go!

I’ll give you access to the agendas for Councils meetings way before the meeting so that you can see whether there are issues that matter most to you!

Rapidly posted Meeting Minutes and Summaries

I promise to post the minutes and give you summaries on social media with rapid speed so that you’re always in the loop. I’ll have them included also on the Student Association Council social media pages and on our weekly e-mails!

Council Meeting Summary Videos

I’ll create videos in order to update the student body on what happened on Councils that week featuring our Sabbaticals and Councilors! With loads of engagement, I hope to also live-stream very important Council meetings on request.

More variety in media

There’s a lot to update you on Councils but only reading minutes is not that enticing. I’ll give you themed infographics, short and entertaining videos, and an online interactive calendar to keep you in the loop with everything the Student Association has to offer you!

Contact form

Bringing you more ways to reach out to Councils. I’ll have feedback forms and suggestion boxes so that you have your say about what you want to improve. I’ll revitalize our social media channels to make them more engaging and updated. More ways to communicate with you than just email!

Quality designs

With my prior experience in design and social media marketing, I’ll make sure to make all the information provided to you in an easy to read, informative and aesthetic format.

Understanding Councils

Most of us don’t even know what Councils really do, less of us understand the structure. I’ll simplify that for you with posts, links and videos. I’ll also have a form for you to easily send in your feedback, questions, comments and suggestions to Councils.

Improving the Your Union website

This website could use a little updating on the visuals and the information. Also, I will work on reducing the number of times the website crashes to ensure that you can always book rooms in the Union and get the access to the information you need.

Motion proposals guidelines

I’ll create a submission form for you to submit motions with easy to understand Council Motion format guidelines so you can create the changes you want. I will also provide graphics and videos on how any student can propose a motion!

Socialise with the subcommittees and SSC

How better to learn about subcommittees are doing than to hear from the Councilors and Heads of subcommittees themselves? I’ll create casual socials with non-alcoholic events for you to meet the SSC Councilors so you can find out more about the Union can do for you!

Office hours

Come and chat with me on a weekly basis if you think you have ideas or feedback on how we let you become aware of what Councils is doing! Alternatively, chat with me if you want to learn more about how we could help you improve your Student Association experience or just have a nice cup of tea.

Scrutiny and feedback

It’s your SSC Councils after all, so I will give you the platform to give feedback on the ways we are the running events and meetings. Comment boxes and contact details given to you regularly. Overall, just giving you transparency of how we’re running the SSC.

Supporting councillors

Running a subcommittee and being part of Councils can be a time-consuming job, I want to be there to support the SSC Councilors in any ways that I can so that they can achieve their personal goals.

Supporting subcommittees

Our subcommittees offer some really great events and I would love to help promote them and support each subcommittee to the best of my ability so that they can achieve their goals.

Collaboration opportunities

I’ll create a collaboration event request form for students and societies to fill in on the Your Union website and Facebook pages. Now you can submit your event ideas to collaborate with the Union subcommittees more frequently.
