Connect with the Community

The Chaplaincy’s honorary Global Chaplain Fiona Barnard can connect students who will be in St Andrews over the festive period with people in the community who can host students for a meal or event. Please contact Fiona on [email protected] by Tuesday 20 December if you’d like to be connected in this way. Honorary Cornerstone Chaplain Jared Michelson also organises a festive gathering on Christmas Day – contact him on [email protected] for details.

University Events

Museums: visit the Wardlaw Museum during their opening times, and find details of events and exhibitions on the Museum Events webpage.

Byre Theatre: you could go see Snow WhiteIt’s a Wonderful Life, or other shows at the Byre.

Resources & Spaces

Library Services: find updated information about alternative access to books, study spaces and IT support on the Library blog.

Byre Café and Study Space: check their festive opening timetable.

Saints Sport: check the festive opening times on the Saints Sport homepage.

University Cafes: University cafés will close at the end of Tuesday 20 December. Fairlie’s café in the Medical Sciences Building and UPDATES café in the Physics Building will reopen on Monday 9 January, and Franki's Café in the Main Library Building will reopen on Monday 16 January.

Vouchers: The University is providing some vouchers (£10 Love St Andrews and £20 Aldi) for students who are staying in town over the festive period to spend around St Andrews and beyond over the holidays. The vouchers will be available for students to pick up from The ASC (79 North Street) on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 December, and thereafter from the wardennial teams in the residences that are remaining open. Email theasc@ with any issues accessing the vouchers.

Nightline: St Andrews Nightline is still here to listen if you need to talk about anything that's on your mind. Their normal email and instant messaging services are open through 21 December, available from 8pm-midnight. From 22 December until the start of Semester 2, you can reach them by email at [email protected] for anonymous, confidential, non-judgmental and non-directive listening and information.

University Support: Most University services will be closed between Friday 23 December and Wednesday 4 January, but emergency assistance will still be available from the securityresidential, and Student Services teams.

Online Resources: You can check out Student Minds’ Student Space and their Christmas break resources, and can register for free for the online peer community Togetherall.
