The Proctor’s Office and the Students’ Association are delighted to announce that the winners of the first Enterprising Mind of the Year competition are Morganne Wilbourne, and Izzy Dunstan for their innovative project of creating a system which tests the effectiveness of potential lead compounds for antibiotic development.
The judges were particularly impressed by Izzy and Morganne’s opportunistic attitude, their innovation, and their critical decision-making. The students were inspired by a module they took in biology, and built on this to turn their project into something long-term, and in doing so they utilised all of the enterprise capabilities the judges were looking for.
Congratulations to Morganne and Izzy, and thanks to everyone who submitted applications to the competition – the standard was very high and the judges look forward to seeing more of the fantastic work students at St Andrews are doing as the competition continues in future years!
