A group focused on using evidence and reason to do the most good possible.
Effective Altruism is a society that is focused on answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? In order to achieve this, we focus on using evidence and careful analysis in order to determine the most impactful ways we can use our time and money to do good in the world. We focus on helping students to choose high-impact careers, through mentorship programmes and discussion groups; we also offer opportunities to discuss ideas at pub socials, community dinners, and student-led lectures.
We are here solely for students of the University of St Andrews. We exist to make the student experience as strong as it can be, to provide services for students, and to represent student views to the University and beyond. We are a charity registered in Scotland and we are mostly volunteers, from members of the SRC and SSC to Ents Crew, all the society committee members to the Trustees of our Board.
