Swing Dance St Andrews offers weekly dance classes and also puts on dancing events and showcases, often in conjunction with other societies and halls. Since forming in 2006, we have performed in the middle of Market St for St Andrews Day, at hall balls and in the annual dance show, Around The World of Dance We have held swing dance parties and a joint Ballroom/Swing ball. We also take trips to Edinburgh for swing dance events.
Classes are taught by our own experienced members and teachers visiting from Edinburgh, but the atmosphere is very relaxed. Swing dancing itself is informal and fun, so don’t worry if you have two left feet! Swing dancing is a very social dance and partners are rotated throughout the class. You do not need a partner to attend, and while classes do build on the previous ones, they cater for beginners, so please feel free to attend even if you've missed previous classes. No special clothing is required, but the dancing can become quite energetic at times, so wear something comfortable which you won't overheat in!
