There are hundreds of activities and groups to join in St Andrews – you just have to find the right ones for you! All our fun here is student-led, spearheaded by a plethora of activities affiliated to the Students’ Association. Our activities fall into three major categories: Societies, Subcommittees and Association Projects, all of which are managed by the Student Services Council (SSC). Whether you know what you love or want to try something entirely new, jump in and join anything that interests you!
Societies are the heart of student life in St Andrews. With 140+ societies, these cover everything from Doctor Who to Animal Welfare, Fine Food and Dining to Foreign Affairs. A full list of societies and contact email addresses of all the student activities that you can join is available in the Societies A-Z section.
Subcommittees are core groups of the Students' Association. These groups are very active and put on a huge range of activities throughout the year that are open to all students. Everyone is automatically a member of these groups so there are no membership fees! We have 10 subcommittees that include the Charities Campaign, Union Debating Society, Design Team, Ents Crew, LGBT, Mermaids, Music is Love, On The Rocks Arts Festival, STAR and SVS. Check out their invidual web pages to the left for more details!
