Every three years, students in St Andrews elect a Rector as the President of Court, the highest governing body of the University. This is a privilege shared by just three other ancient Universities in Scotland - Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Students in St Andrews have elected their Rector since 1858, and previous St Andrews' rectors have included Rudyard Kipling, Field Marshal Haig, and John Cleese.

The election will run from Friday 21st of October, 6PM, with online voting from noon Wednesday 26th of October, until 5PM Friday 28th of October.
Computerised polling stations will be run from the Students' Association, Physics Building and Library on Friday 28th of October.
