It's your first semester at University and for some obscure reason a load of creepy third years are forcfully trying to adopt you, referring to themselves as parents and speaking in confusing St Andrews idioms about something that happens after Reading Week. They make promises about epic Raisin parties and tell stories about increasingly unlikely Raisin Monday costumes.
So what are they on about? What should you believe?
Why on earth is it called Raisin Weekend!?
In brief, Raisin Weekend is a celebration of University life and of an age-old lost-in-the-mists-of-time tradition. Almost every student at the University is a member of an 'Academic Family', and Raisin Weekend is the time of the year to celebrate yours, by getting together and fulfilling the requirements of the weekend's oddball itinerary.
In these pages you'll find the Students' Association guide to Raisin Weekend; what it's about, how it got to be so bizarre, how to get the most out of it and most importantly, how to stay out of prison and in University.
