► Postgraduate President

Postgraduate President

The position of Postgraduate President is a very important one. In overall charge of the St Leonard's College Postgraduate Society, the PG President is responsible for leading his or her committee in organising social, recreational and academic events; representing PG needs to the Students' Association; and being the public face of the St Andrews postgraduate community to the University and the town.

The position lasts one year from the date of election. The Postgraduate President is a key member of the Students' Association's Student Services Council, sitting alongside the presidents of Mermaids, Debating, Volunteering, Broadcasting, and various other key groups of the Association.

The Postgraduate President works closely with the Association President and the Provost of St Leonard's College throughout their term.

For the term 2011-2012, the Postgraduate President is Holly Patrick, a PhD candidate in the School of Management. Her main targets for the year rest around the goal of engaging PGs more in the student experience, and to do this she intends to build closer relationships with other societies and bodies across the University to increase PG involvement. She is also concerned with increasing the provision of academic and social events across the University calender for PGs and is spending the summer revmping the PG webpage and developing an Orientation Week program that will pull new PGs into the existence and activities of the Society right from the outset.

If you have any deas on how the above aims might be achieved, or if you just want a bit of a chat, you can email Holly on pgpres@st-andrews.ac.uk

You can also read her blog here, which is written to keep PGs up-to-date with the latest activities of the President and the Society!
