Music is Love, (n)
1. St Andrews Student Association Sub Music Sub-Committee.
2. A ragamuffin bunch passionate about fostering the music culture in St Andrews and maintaining a creative output for anybody who wants to be involved; whether you love folk or funk, or anything inbetween... Music is Love is here to make sure you're happy.
How do we do this?
Last year saw us bring you a healthy roster of acts and a firm working relationship with Fence Records in Anstruther. Utilizing their superb acts and reminding everybody that you don’t even need to leave Fife to find good live music, we curated events featuring Fence regulars Johnny Lynch (The Pictish Trail) and Kenny Anderson (King Creosote). Other Fence gigs included Kid Canaveral, Dan Willson (Withered Hand) and songwriter extraordinaire James Yorkston.
Music is Love operates an equipment hire system where you can borrow bits and bobs from us to support your event/aid you in your own musical ventures. We're currently reviewing the pricings but a basic rundown of the equipment can be found here: http://milstandrews.blogspot.com/p/equipment.html
Last year's seminar sessions were a success, with such titles as A History of Funk and An Introduction to Fence Records. These sessions allowed students to give a small presentation on an aspect of Music they found interesting while telling some people about it over a pint. If you'd be interested in holding a seminar session then please let us know (email@example.com).
.Special Event Grants
Music is Love initially went under the guise of Musfund which is an allusion to our position as a funding board for musical ventures within the student populus. Last year, we handed out grants for a variety of events such as a Ska night, a classical composition awards night and a drink-fuelled jazz-a-thon in assocation with the association's Jazz Society. Now, jazz isn't for every one; so if it's not your cuppa why not put on your own event and give us a wee nudge to help out?
