► Gradball 2012 - Line Up

THE LINE UP:

STORNOWAY:  11 PM - 12:30 AM

Oxford’s Stornoway have risen to the top at a ridiculous pace, with their emotional intensity and sweeping harmonies winning them a feverishly devoted fanbase. Having won Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent competition in 2010, they were invited to play the Pyramid stage two years running. 2010’s debut album ‘Beachcomber’s Windowsill’ went straight to number 12 in the album charts, and won the Xfm award for Best Debut Album, selected by the likes of Elbow and Snow Patrol.

2011 yielded further accolades, as the band were invited to play Pitchfork’s music festival in Paris, curated by none other than Bon Iver. The Ball will mark a rare opportunity to hear songs from their second album, due for release later this year.

JOY ORBISON: 12:45 AM - 2:15 AM

Since launching head-first into the dubstep scene with 2009’s groundbreaking ‘Hyph Mngo’, London-based Peter O’Grady has consistently produced exhilarating bass music for Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings, his own Doldrums imprint and – if rumours are to be believed – for Swamp81 on the as-yet uncredited ‘Sicko Cell’.

Nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2010 award, and described by them as ‘lovingly-crafted late-night evolution of house and UK garage, with soft bass, hypnotic home-made percussion and distant chopped-up vocals’. Joy O comes fresh from gracing the stage at Manchester's massive Parklife festival, and is set to release more highly-anticipated material in the coming months.

SHIVERING SHEIKHS: 9:30 PM - 10:30 PM

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to sweat. We're very happy to say that, using nothing but my charm, a selection of mixed nuts and a picture of a monkey we have managed to tempt the Shivering Sheikhs back to town. This year the swing sensations have whipped up a storm at the Squeeze nights, winning legions of toe-tapping fans in the process.

As any of you Squeeze 500 fans will know, this is going to be one of the highlights of the night. It's boogie time!

BILLY ANDERSON CEILIDH BAND: 8:15 PM - 9:15 PM

You can't leave St Andrews without one last ceilidh can you? One last chance to Strip the Willow and give the Dashing White Sergeant a go. And who better to tempt you out on to the floor than Billy Anderson, leader of one of Scotland's most prestigious ceilidh bands!

We've only got one hours worth of ceilidh goodness, so be sure to get down to that tent EARLY, so you can say goodbye to St Andrews in the appropriate Scottish fashion.
