► Hecklings and sabb debate

sabbatical debate

New union, library redevelopment, the biggest parties in town, your societies, the quality of your degree, a swimming pool. This is what your sabbaticals will be doing every day - make sure they will do it on your terms and do it right.

The Sabbatical Debate is where you question the candidates, and they have the opportunity to debate their policies and critique each other.

hecklings

Hecklings are an opportunity for you to meet the candidates, and for them to show you why you should vote for them, and why they're the best person for the job.

Charities, debating, affordable accommodation, radio, free condoms, more books, plays, volunteering - we all care about them, so think of some questions, grab a pint from the main bar, and head to the candidate hecklings...

If you are a candidate, hecklings are mandatory. Please make sure you arrive at least half an hour prior to your slot, as timings may not be exact.

          hall debates

Only candidates running for sabbatical positions will be permitted to take part in debates/hecklings in halls of residence (there are simply too many positions to make anything else feasible). These debates/hecklings in halls of residence, unlike the sabbatical debate or the University-wide hecklings, are not compulsory and it is up to you if you wish to participate.

These debates will be organised by the Senior Student in each hall of residence, who will organise the time according to what they think is appropriate - so if there lots of people have turned up, they might get the candidates to have a formal debate and make short speeches. If there are a few people, they might suggest candidates simply mingle and answer questions on a one to one basis. So prepare for anything!

The hall hecklings will be held:

Monday 14th March: 5-6pm – DRA, Uni Hall and Fife Park hall debate (held in DRA bar)

Tuesday 15th March: 5-6pm – New Hall, Andrew Melville & John Burnett hall debate (New hall Café)

Wednesday 16th March:  1-2pm St Regulus hall debate (library/TV room)
4.45-5.45pm – McIntosh hall debate meet & greet (TV Room)
6pm-7pm – Albany Park hall debate (Common Room)
Thursday 17th March: 5-6pm St Salvadors hall debate (common room)
