Lower Parliament Hall
Every Wednesday in Lower Parliament Hall we hold a debate with a mix of esteemed guest speakers and students. Anyone can come along and have their say. Steeped in tradition, filled with wit and intellect, these debates can be both light-hearted and informative. Gowns welcome.
For a full listing of LPH debates see this semester's term card.

The next debate of Martinmas 2007 will be...
'This House Would Move the Students Out of Town'
Wednesday at 7.30 for an 8pm debate in Lower Parliament Hall on South Street.

Speak in LPH
Feel strongly about an issue being debated? Want to show off your skills in front of your friends in Lower Parliament Hall? Part of this year's goal is to have at least one student in every Wednesday night debate! The Convenor is always looking for fresh talent, good orators, and passionate speakers. All you have to do is fill out a form on the Debates bulletin board outside of the General Office (upstairs in the Union) or contact Mr Thomas Cahn.
The Minutes of previous debates are available online - paper copies can be found in the Main Library. The Standing Orders [PDF] of the House apply to everyone within the debates chamber.
LPH has many varied traditions and terms. We have produced a short summary to some of them. You can also read the lyrics of the Gaudeamus. Join the Mailing List for regular updates on speakers, motions, events and other news.
