Inter-Varsity
Enjoyed speaking in an Emergency Debate? Want to represent St Andrews. There are many opportunities to travel to other universities to debate in inter-varsity competitions. It's a great way to meet loads of new people and display your debating skills.
The UDS enters teams and judges into competitions around the country, and around the world. The society is the strongest it has ever been competitively, dominating the Scottish circuit. If you are interested in getting involved in competitive debating, come along to training or email the Inter-Varsity Secretary.
SSDC
The SSDC is The Scottish Students Debating Council. St Andrews is a member as are Aberdeen, Dundee, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Robert Gordon's, and Strathclyde. The SSDC works to encourage cooperation and support amongst its members and as such there are a number of reciprocal agreements between the institutions with the aim of bettering Scottish debating.
