Stop the War
The Stop the War Society doesn't buy the declared, unending 'War on Terror'. The war in Iraq, as part of this project, has caused unbelievable amounts of death and misery for all countries involved, imperilled international security and generated resentment to fuel more terrorism. We are opposed to any similar unwarranted acts of aggression against other nations, particularly Iran. We additionally oppose two disturbing offshoots of the 'War on Terror' programme: Firstly, the horrid and widespread maltreatment of Iraqi prisoners, and the systematized secretive imprisonment and near-torture of un-tried prisoners in American detention camps. Secondly, the dismantling of our civil liberties all in the name of security against a half-invented enemy.
