1.0 Convenor’s Welcome

Dave welcomes everybody and congratulates everyone for making to the meeting and for surviving the weekend! Dave goes round with the question ‘What was your most amusing moment of Raisin weekend?’ Some hilarious moments are described!

Before the start of the meeting Luke gives us a brief talk and slideshow about the charity Africa Now. He talks about some of the projects Africa Now are involved in to help alleviate poverty and he also talks a little about how he got a summer work placement with them. Dave thanks Luke very much for coming along and says that Luke’s email address is availiabe if anybody has some further questions for him.

On to the business of the day Dave tells everybody that the Scots Rag Conference is now definitely happening on the 8th of December. Dave explains how he has managed to get some Universities to come along and he says that there will be various seminars on topics such as events, collections and careers. There will be a lunch and also a collection/pub crawl in the evening for Africa Now. Dave also reminds everybody about The Calendar 2008 which he hopes will be out in time for Christmas! He says that nearer the time we will have a Charities photo taken for the calendar- a few ideas are thrown around for this.

2.0 Exec Committee Updates

2.1 Tom- Hitchhike Coordinator

Tom says how Race to Amsterdam places sold out within 8 hours! In the first hour we raised four and a half thousand pounds! A lengthy discussion about the attributes of the hostel ensues and Tom finishes by saying that the next Race meeting will be taking place soon.

2.2 Katie- Ragweek Coordinator

Katie says that plans for Ragweek are going well. She talks through the finalised line-up for the week. There are many fun and interesting events planned including: themed bops, music nights, a bingo, a theatre production, a fashion show and many more. Katie says that the next meeting will be taking place this Friday at 5 pm in the Union but she will email everybody about the exact location this week. There is also a volunteers meeting planned for Monday 3rd December between 5.30 and 6.30 pm.

2.3 Karlie- Events Coordinator

Karlie confirms that we have now booked our Christmas meal. It will take place at the Grill House on Wednesday the 12th of December at 7.30 pm. She goes on to talk about the bake sale planned for next Monday outside the library. She asks everybody to please bake something for it! She also tells everybody about an exciting event we have planned for April of this year- bungee jumping! The venue is to be confirmed but it will probably be at the North Haugh. We need at least 75 people to jump so she asks everyone to tell their friends and enemies! Finally, Karlie (reluctantly!) mentions the Corona beach bop to be held on the 7th of December, but she says that details will be discussed next week.

2.4 Clare- Treasurer

Clare gives us some big fat juicy totals this week! In total we have raised £12,282,18 and for our 6 nominated charities we have raised £3,542,07! Everybody pats themselves on the back for their great efforts in raising those totals. Clare reminds everyone that there is unclaimed money waiting in the cash office.
