1.0  Convenor’s Welcome

Dave welcomes everyone to the meeting. He welcomes Coral Dyer from SVS who has come along to give a short talk about the work that SVS do. Coral gives us a few examples of how the money we raised helps SVS partner students to volunteering projects. Projects range from community to environmental and SVS also organise the MV award. Dave thanks Coral for coming along also saying that we appreciate hearing about the charities we support.

Dave starts by saying a big thank you to everyone who came along and to those who spoke at the Scots Rag Conference last Saturday. He says that it was a useful day and it was nice to meet others from other Universities. But he adds that he hopes that next year another University will organise it! Dave goes on to say that if anyone is interested in finding out more about Committee or Exec positions that will be up for grabs next year he welcomes them to get in touch.

2.0             Exec Committee Updates

2.1             Katie-Ragweek coordinator

Katie doesn’t have much to report except that the next Rag meeting is taking place at 6pm on Friday in the Student Activities Centre.

2.2             Karlie- Events Co-ordinator

Karlie says thank you to those who helped out at the Corona bop last Friday night, she hopes that we raised over £300 from it. She goes on to remind everyone about our Christmas meal which is happening on Wednesday. She passes a menu around for everyone to fill in orders. Dave entreats everyone to come- he reckons it will be a good night!

2.3             Tom Hobbs- Hitchhike Convenor

Tom also has little to report, but this Friday at 5pm in Venue 2 there will be another Race meeting.

2.4             Sarah- Collections Co-ordinator

Sarah says that unfortunately the Africa Now pub-crawl didn’t really happen in the end on Saturday. But she says that she is busy planning next semester’s schedule, there will be collections during Ragweek and also some in the big cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow- with Dave driving the minibus!!

2.5             Will- Nominee to Exec

Will says that things have been busy on the sponsorship front with lots of businesses offering prizes and donating gifts. Will is trying to organise for Santa to sell mystery presents during the Karl Kennedy bop. He passes around a sign-up sheet for volunteers.

2.6            Clare- Treasurer

Claire asks everybody to please go and collect money from the cash office- the tin is getting very heavy! She says that she is still waiting for some hoodie money.

3.0             Other Committee Members

3.1             Katherine- Cloakroom Co-ordinator

Katherine says that she has all buy one place filled for the Xmas ball cloakroom. But Kathryn yells across the room that she will do it so that she can go to the ball!! So now that is sorted, Katherine has brief chat with Dave about organising the rails, how to get the free tickets and who will collect the cash box at the end of the evening. Liz kindly offers to do this. Clare asks Katherine who did the cloakroom on the 28th September? Katherine thinks it was Habitat for Humanity. Dave says no to a request to do a cloakroom to fund a biology field trip. Katherine says she is now working on the rota for next semester.

3.2             Alex Fun-Run Co-ordinator

Alex says he has a few random bits for this week, he says that the forum website is not finished, but he hopes that the marathon groups will be able to log on as users. He also hopes to have a cross-country forum. Alex wishes to have a meeting about the marathon because about 20 people are now taking part. He says there are currently about 4 relay teams. Alex finishes by saying that he would like to set up a meeting with the cross-country captain to discuss the plans for the FunRun.

3.3             Matt- Halls Rep

Dave asks Matt to compile a leader board for amounts raised by hall fundraising. Matt says that at the moment he thinks that New Hall are in the lead.

3.4             Katheryn-Sponsorship Officer

Katheryn says that things are going pretty well, we now have a few dinners and some alcohol to give away in Ragweek. She says that she still has a few places to follow up to see if we can get any more donations.

4.0             Meeting Closed

Dave mentions to Clare Hyatt that it would be a good idea to have a quick chat with Katie about the Ragweek website. Dave finishes up by suggesting that people coming to the Xmas meal should try to remember to bring some coins otherwise we will be, in his words, ‘screwed’! He asks if there are any further comments, questions or issues? Or just any random stories or jokes? There aren’t, so he closes the meeting adding that he looks forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday night.
