1.0 Convenor’s Welcome

Dave welcomes everyone. The first opening question is ‘What have you been banned from?’ in homage to the campaign being banned from the Raisen during the social pub-crawl last Friday. But no-one has any experiences of being banned, so instead the weekly question is ‘if you could be a form of transport, what would you be and why?’ After all of the amusing answers, Dave reminds all gathered to bring any outstanding money owed for the hoodies. The money needs to be given to Clare. He then thanks Karlie for a brilliant social night on Friday, everyone had great fun, and Tom and Clare proved themselves hardcore drinkers winning the most pub-golf points. Dave finally entreats everybody to make an effort to vote in the Union Elections that are happening on Friday 2nd November.

2.0             Exec Committee Updates

2.1             Sarah-Collections Co-ordinator

Sarah tells everybody about the collection planned for this coming Saturday 3rd November in aid of Sue Ryder Care in Dundee. The theme is Halloween or bonfire night and she encourages everybody to dress up for it. She explains that this is probably one of the last major collections for this semester.

2.2             Karlie- Events Co-ordinator

Karlie tells everyone about the Halloween bop planned for Friday the 2nd November. She says that  the clothes shop ‘Anyone for Tennis’ has generously donated prizes for the night. She shows the cool posters for the event and explains that on the night we will be selling sweeties and red devil horns. She passes around a sheet for volunteers to sign up.

2.3             Tom- Hitchhike Coordinator

Tom explains his recent disappointment that the Race flyers were not ordered in time, so he had to make some himself and although they are good, he was hoping for glossy professional-looking ones! He says that Jailbreak entry forms are still available from him or the general office. The next Race to Amsterdam info meeting is this Wednesday at 7pm in Venue 2.

2.4             Katie- Rag Week Co-ordinator

Katie explains that the first Rag Week meeting last week went well. The next meeting is this Wednesday at 2pm in the main bar of the Union, and she encourages anyone who is interested to come along. Katie finishes by mentioning that she would like to speak to Charlotte and Kathryn the Sponsorship Officers at the end of the meeting.

2.5             Clare- Treasurer

Claire starts by saying that she likes treasurer stuff!! She says that claimed money can still be picked up from the cash office. The current totals are £9478.99 and £1377.97 for our six nominated charities. She reminds Dave that the money for Rory’s birthday bop is still to come, so hopefully by the end of next weekend we will be over the £10,000 mark!

3.0 Other Committee Members

3.1 Pippa- Halls Rep

Pippa admits that Matt Berry has been excellent in doing most of the Halls work so far this year! Dave gives her the Remembrance Day poppies to spread around the halls.

3.2 Alex G- Fun Run Coordinator

Alex talks further about the Edinburgh marathon saying that people could also enter as a ‘Hairy Haggis’ relay team. He says that the marathon would be good to do because it is supporting Myeloma UK, one of our nominated charities for this year. He would like anyone interested to see him after the meeting because he needs to let the organisers know soon how many people are interested.

3.3 Katherine- Cloakrooms Coordinator

Katherine explains that everything is going well on the cloakrooms front. She brings up the possibility of doing cloakrooms at the Christmas ball. Dave is quite keen but Lindsay thinks it is a very difficult job to do considering the sheer numbers of people who will be there! Katherine resolves to think about it further.

3.4 Ceri- Publicity Distributor

Ceri exclaims that she has lots of posters to put up! She asks if anyone is interested in becoming one of her ‘minions’ to help her put up the posters.

4.0 -A.O.C.B

4.1- Lindsay MacDougall

Lindsay wants to tell everybody about the Moonwalk marathon in Edinburgh that takes place on 14th of June for Breast Cancer Care. She explains that you do 26 miles, thousands of people will be there, it takes place at night and everyone dresses up in bras! She thinks it will be a good laugh and a good way to get fit. She says that if anyone wants to apply then the opening day is this Wednesday and she encourages everyone to get in early because these things are usually popular. It cost £42 to enter but it is up to you how much money you raise. Anyone interested is to see her at the end.

5.0 Meeting Closed
