1.0 Convenor’s Welcome

Dave welcomes old and new members to the first meeting of the year. Everyone says something interesting and funny about themselves. Dave thanks everybody for coming and he proceeds to remind everybody about the upcoming EGM elections to be held at next Monday’s meeting. Five committee positions are to be elected and Dave explains what each position entails, adding that applications for Vice Convenor need to be made clear before Wednesday 10th October via email. Lydia briefly explains what the job of Vice Convenor entails. Dave then goes onto to tell everybody about the Volunteering photograph that takes place on the 10th of October at 1pm at Kinburn Park. Everybody should wear their hoodies if they own one. Speaking of hoodies, Dave says hoodies cost 25 pounds and people wanting one should bring their money to next week’s meeting. Dave then talks a little about The Student Experience night taking place in Lower College hall on the 11th October at 7pm. A sign up sheet is passed around for anyone wanting to help out at this event.
Although Katherine could not make the meeting Dave praises Katherine’s brilliant handling of the cloakrooms during the last few weeks, especially Fresher’s Week during which a few hundred pounds were raised.

2.0 Exec Committee Updates

2.1 Sarah - Collections Co-ordinator
Sarah is applauded for the success of Saturday’s collection to Edinburgh on 6th October. Sarah announces that Katie collected over a hundred pounds on her own. Together everyone raised about 490 pounds. Sarah goes on to describe the upcoming collection to Dundee in aid of Myeloma UK on 13th October. The plan is to dress as pirates! She also talks of the following collection in Edinburgh planned for 20th October. This will be a Barnado’s Kilt Tilt collection, with a night out in Edinburgh also planned for after.

 2.3 Karlie - Events Co-ordinator
Karlie tells everyone about the first event planned for this year. It will take place on Friday 19th October and it will be a birthday bop for Rory the lion! Karlie wants anybody with ideas to approach her and also she will be looking for helpers on the night in due course. She then goes on to talk about the first social of the year. It is planned to be a pub golf type night-but with a twist! It will take place on Friday 26th October and she tells everybody to put the date in their diaries now. Karlie also remembers to say that we raised about 75 pounds for the little Genes for Jeans collection in St Andrews held on Friday 5th October.

2.4 Katie - Rag Week Co-ordinator
As it is early in the year the only Rag Week business to be declared is that Katie is planning to hold her first meeting for people wanting to help with Rag Week on Wednesday in Week 4.

2.5 Tom - Hitchhike Co-ordinator
Tom explains more about the event ‘Jailbreak’ and says that he is planning the first meeting for Tuesday 16th October in Venue 2 at 8pm.

2.6 Clare - Treasurer
Clare gives us a running total of the approximate amount of money we have raised so far and it comes to a little over a thousand pounds. This excludes the LUG (Help the Aged) money which will be accounted for shortly.

3.0 Other Committee Members

3.1 Lindsay and Elizabeth - Ordinary Members
Lindsay tells everybody that she and Elizabeth are planning to hold a Breast Cancer Awareness tea party on Sunday 21st October from 2-5pm at their house. Everybody is invited to attend and asked to please wear pink, bring cake and lots of spare cash to spend! There will be a raffle, manicures and prizes.

4.0 Meeting closed

With no further business to be discussed, Dave closes the meeting reminding everybody as a final note to get their thinking caps on for the ‘ideas forum’ to be held in a few weeks after the EGM. He also entreats everyone to join the Charities Facebook group if they have not already done so! With all business attended to, Dave hopes to now see everyone in the bar.
