General Committee Minutes

Apologies: Katie
1. Convenor’s Welcome
Will welcomes us to the meeting and asks the opening question; “what would you do with a metric tonne of water?” We decided that we would make ice sculptures. He then thanks everyone who helped at starfields, which made over £600, selling lanyards, whistles and the cloakroom. He thanks everyone who helped sell James Bond tickets – they sold out at 4.30pm on Friday.
2. Exec committee updates
2.1. Becca – Secretary
Asks if any officers have anything for her to put in the weekly email. Then tells us the fact of the week: all of the rectors ever to have been in
2.2. Craig - treasurer
Craig tells us that he had a good time at starfields. He has also spent the afternoon filling in paperwork. He then gives away too biscuits! And tells everyone to collect their bus ticket money from the cash office.
2.3. Mhairi – RAR week coordinator
Mhairi says that she has booked a bigger room for the meetings – 4pm in the TV room, and 5 pm in the SAC office for the fashion show meetings. She says that if you haven’t yet joined the facebook group, ask her to add you, as it has become secret, so that people don’t steal our ideas. She says well done to Caitlin and Sarah for all their help and ideas. She then explains that she has set a weekly challenge for her committee – this week’s is how can you find 3000 balloons cheaply?
2.4. Liz – Hitch coordinator
Liz says that there is a Race2Berlins social on Thursday 30th. It is an icebreaking event, for girls to meet guys etc. She says that the prizes for the survival packs are coming in well and that jailbreak sign up starts on Friday. She says that there are still some slots free on the stall if anyone wants to help, and if they do they are to come and see her afterwards. She also has some posters for Race2Berlin, and if anyone can help out taking them she will have them with her at the end of the meeting. Will then asks if everyone can change their profile pic to the jailbreak picture. Liz then says that there are over 600 people in her R2B facebook group! There is no chance that they won’t sell out!
2.5. Katie – collections coordinator
Will explains that Katie is not here, but that he ha prizes for the top 4 collector so far: Alex, Ellie, Chrissie and Karin.
2.6. Tiff – events coordinator
Tiff says wells done to all those who helped out at black tie bond. And then says that if you helped out on the stall and want your £8 ticket, can you come and see her afterwards. She then says that on the evening there are going to be drinks deals from 8pm in McKays. Ellie then talks about her pumpkin stall on Wednesday outside the union – I anyone wants to help out can they are asked to see her afterwards. Tiff asks if anyone wants to go to
2.7. Alex – marketing coordinator
Alex says that he is starting a golf tournament, so he might need some help, and asks if anyone wants to help can they see him afterwards. He asks if anyone wants a charities hoodie can they come up and sign the sheet. We are not going to have zipped hoodies as they are not affordable. He explains that the hoodies are going to be blue with an embroidered rory on the front and the big rory on the back. They will be about £25.

3.2. Pippa – publicity distribution officer
Pippa is not here, but Sarah has her posters to hand out, and she would love people to come and collect them and hand them out if they can.
3.3. Shona – Liaison officer and Climb Kilimanjaro for Kids organiser
She says well done to Anna Millar who collected for Climb Kili at starfields. She then asks to see everyone afterwards who is signed up for the trip.
3.4. Amy – Halls liaison officer
She explains that all the halls charities reps met up last week, and that poker soc are now involved in the poker tournament. She says that the semi-finals are going to be in the union, and then final is going to be during RAG.
3.5. Alice – fun run coordinator

Will thanks everyone for coming along and asks if anyone can get in contact with the girl from Joy to the World. Will then closes the meeting.
