1.0 Convenor’s Welcome
Dave welcomes everyone. He congratulates everyone who took up a new position on the committee at the AGM. He says well-done to Karlie who did a fantastic job with Run with Rory on Sunday- applause for Karlie. Dave says how he had a great time but he hurts a little after the race! He announces the Nominated Charities for this year:
Myeloma UK, Families First, SVS, Winston’s Wish and Africa Now.
Dave explains that the decision has been made to amend the constitution and add a 6th charity to the list due to many of the nominated charities being small and we need a bigger charity with a well-known name to help the campaign. Thus the ‘Convenor’s Choice’ for this year is Breast Cancer Campaign.
2.0 Exec Committee Updates
2.1 Lydia: Vice Convenor
Lydia has nothing to say except well done to everyone for the success of Run with Rory on Sunday!
2.2 Clare: Treasurer
Clare reminds everyone to give in their Run with Rory sponsorship money. She also reminds everyone that there is still expenses/money to be claimed from the cash office by people who have handed in receipts throughout the year e.g. bus fare money.
2.3 Karlie: Events Coordinator
Karlie says a massive THANKYOU to everyone who took part in, and helped with Run with Rory on Sunday. She says how we have already raised 340 pounds through sponsorship money alone and hopes to raise much more when everyone hands in their sponsorship money. She reminds everyone present about the Summer Spice event which is coming up on Thursday 3rd of May and there is discussion about the event in general. Karlie asks everyone to sign a sheet if they can help out on the night. There is talk with Ben and Ceri about publicity for the event and they arrange for posters and facebook flyers to be made etc.
2.4 Sarah: Collections Coordinator
Sarah says that while collection dates need to be confirmed possible collections will include the Barnadoes Kilt Tilt in Edinburgh, a Sue Ryder Care Mega Raid in Aberdeen and a pirate themed collection in Dundee.
2.5 Tom: Hitchhike Coordinator
Tom explains that the committee for the Hitchhike will be meeting soon to choose a destination for next year and also to start the initial organisation. He asks people to email him if they want to get involved.
2.6 Julia: Old Treasurer
Julia says that Macintosh Hall has won the competition between the Halls of Residence to raise the most money this year for charity, they raised 809 pounds and will receive a prize.
3.0 Dave: The Convenor closes the meeting
