1.0 Convenor’s Welcome
1.1 Adoption of Agenda
Lindsay explains that she shall be adopting the agenda as outlined in the AGM booklet.
1.2 Approval of Annual General Meeting Minutes 2006
No one present finds any problems with the AGM minutes from 2006, found in the AGM booklet.
2.0 Apologies for Absence
Laura Johnston.
3.0 Reports from the Executive Committee
3.1 SSC Charities Officer (Campaign Convenor) Lindsay Macdougall
Lindsay explains that she shall keep her report short and sweet! She says that she has had a fantastic year; there have been many challenges yet she knows everyone has risen to these. It has been a great year for change, with the new logo and greater appearances from Rory. She says that she will be thanking people later in the meeting.
3.2 Vice Convenor and Secretary Lydia Warren
Lydia says that this has been a brilliant year, and for her as secretary it has been more organised, with the experience of the previous year behind her. She has also enjoyed being more involved with events. Lydia wishes to thank everyone who has helped in anyway, and congratulates the Exec on such a wonderful year.
3.3 Nominee to Exec Jen Hall
Jen thanks everyone on the committee. She is glad that she has been able to do a bit of everything as Nominee to Exec, and her highlight was helping in RAG Week by organising the volunteers.
3.4 Treasurer Julia Blencowe
Julia wishes to thank Lee, Bruce, and Mandy, as they have been fantastic at helping out with certain difficulties throughout the year. She says that this year she has worked hard to fill gaps in the system so that the treasurer’s job is smoother in the future. She announces that the total for this year is £34,251.29 for everyone who collected throughout the university. She thanks the committee.
3.5 Events Coordinator Louise McKeown
Louise explains that events started well as she held a couple of bops. Yet since, the events have been quieter. She is looking forward to ‘Summer Spice’ which is an event with Total Urban Soc on May 3rd. She thanks the committee for their hard work and also thanks everyone who baked cakes for Saturday’s bake sale. She wishes the future Exec the best of luck.
3.6 RAG Week Coordinator Elizabeth Fitzpatrick
Elizabeth says that RAG Week had its highs and lows, yet overall it was great fun and a great learning curve! She thanks everyone who was involved in making it happen, and thanks the committee also. A special thanks is given to Lee for all his help.
3.7 Collections Coordinator Stewart Drennan
Stewart thanks the Exec committee, who have been brilliant. He also thanks Sarah, Kirsten and Jenny for their efforts as collectors; he hands Kirsten and Jenny thank you prizes as they graduate this year. Jenny shows off her new hand-puppet Rory.
3.8 Hitchhike Coordinators David Haines and Tom Hobbs
Tom says that Race to Paris had an awesome year, raising £14,000. He thanks the committee and Fishers Tours. Tom adds that Lost went well- everyone got back safely!
4.0 Convenorship Handover
4.1 Personal Thanks and Presentation to Exec
Lindsay starts by thanking Lydia who has always been committed since first year; she has done an outstanding job as secretary. Lindsay thanks Elizabeth, who made RAG Week wonderful. She is proud that Elizabeth learnt to delegate and she made some brave decisions. She also kept Lindsay sane throughout the year! She thanks ‘TomnDave’ who made Race to Paris a huge success and have had some brilliant ideas. Lindsay thanks Jen who has helped wherever it’s been needed and she hopes that Jen has learnt a lot from being on Exec. Lindsay thanks Stewart who has been dedicated since his first year, and she wishes him luck for the future. Lindsay thanks Louise who has done a wonderful job with events (‘better than me!’) and Lindsay hasn’t had to worry about anything! She thanks Julia, explaining that the committee would be lost without her. Lindsay says that she’s done a wonderful job and has put up with nagging and dealt with challenges well. Lindsay presents the Exec with gifts.
Lindsay thanks Lee for his advice and support throughout the year. She appreciates it so much, and he has been a wonderful friend.
Lindsay thanks Karlie, who has been outstanding as the Fun Run Coordinator. She is certain that it shall be a huge success.
Lindsay thanks Jenny, who deserves a long-service award!
Lindsay thanks the sponsorship officers and the dedicated collectors. She explains that she appreciates everything everyone has done, and she has made some great friends.
4.2 Lindsay Macdougall hands over Convenorship to David Haines
4.3 New Convenor’s Welcome
Dave starts with a thanks to Lindsay, explaining that everyone is aware how ridiculously involved she has been, with endless energy. Lindsay never lets anyone down and went to every event in RAG Week- even when they clashed! She has a busy academic and social life and still manages to fit everything in somehow. Dave thanks Lindsay for being a great leader and friend. (‘She’s probably glad I didn’t say ‘Thanks for being a great shag!’’ Laughter ensues.) Dave explains he has many ideas for next year; he wishes to make a lot of money but also to have a lot of fun. He thanks the new Exec in advance as they shall be putting a great deal of hours in. Finally, Dave presents Lindsay with a book and flowers.
5.0 Election of Campaign Committee 2007-2008
5.1 Executive Positions
Dave explains that the RAG Week Coordinator was a position that was interviewed for last week; all candidates were very worthy. Dave welcomes Katie as next year’s Coordinator.
5.1.1 Campaign Secretary
Matt Berry (David Haines, Richard Harker)
Matt was New Hall’s Charities Convenor last year and the hall raised 500% more than in previous years. He explains he was also a Rag Week volunteer, and feels he would be good as secretary as he is organised and can write quickly!
Jade Finn (Lydia Warren, Lindsay Macdougall)
Jade says that she has been more involved with Charities this year as an events officer. She wishes to fill the secretary role so that she can work more behind the scenes, yet still have the chance to help out with events. She is friendly, reliable and organised.
Suzanne Doyle (Laura Johnston, Clare Rogowski)
Suez says that she helped out during RAG Week and often assists with flyering. She wants to help raise more money, and feels she is organised.
Rosie Gordon (Kirsty MacFarlane, Katie Spike)
Rosie explains that she helped with Run With Rory and in RAG Week. She has experience from other committees as she is secretary for StarFM, so she is aware of what the role entails.

5.1.2 Campaign Treasurer
Clare Rogowski (Tom Hobbs, Katie Fowler)
Claire wishes to be treasurer because the committee has been run so well during the past year and she has been inspired! She wishes to improve the Union relations with the Charities Campaign.
Nicola Sims (Karlie Robinson, Mhairi McGaan)
Nicola explains that she has loved helping at Charities and wishes to be more involved. She has experience as she was the Treasurer for Young Enterprise at school which entailed plenty of money counting!

Dave explains that the votes for Secretary have been counted and applauds Jade for gaining the position.
5.1.3 Collections Coordinator
Sarah Secombes (Stephanie Sharples, Christoper Davies)
Sarah has been involved with the Campaign for over a year and has been a collections officer. She wishes to be on Exec to continue her involvement.

5.1.4 Hitchhike Coordinator
Tom Hobbs (Katie Fowler, Elizabeth Fitpatrick)
Tom would like to make the sponsored hitchhike an even larger event. He would also like to see a change of destination.

5.1.5 Events Coordinator
Mhairi McGaan (Karlie Robinson, Nicola Sims)
Mhairi says that she was an events officer this year. She has great experience as she raised £10,000 in school as part of a small group. She wishes to create bigger events and make the Campaign better known.
Clair Clark (Katie Fowler, Tom Hobbs)
Clair loves the enthusiasm of the Charities Campaign and wishes to be part of it. She feels she has new ideas that are different and exciting.
Karlie Robinson (Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, David Haines)
Karlie has been involved for a year and has helped at the Barbie and Ken Bop. Run with Rory has also been a huge task and has allowed her to realise how tough organising can be, yet it has also shown her how to contact people and run an event.

Dave announces the results which have now been counted: Clare has been elected as treasurer; Sarah has been elected as Collections coordinator; Tom has been elected as Hitchhike Coordinator; Karlie has been elected as Events coordinator.
5.2 Other Committee Positions
5.2.1 Events Officer x 2
Clair Clark
Clair says that now rather than battling against Karlie, she wishes to work with her!
Kat Yu
Kat says that she has experience as she was social rep in her first year. She has good ideas for events and she was on the Race to Paris committee.
Mhairi McGaan
Mhairi says that she has gained great experience in the role in the past year.
Nicola Sims
Nicola wishes to get more involved this year and knows how to de-stress Karlie! She has experience as she helped with Run With Rory.
Pippa Nutall
Pippa wishes to become more involved as she has always enjoyed fundraising and is enthusiastic.
Rosie Gordon
Rosie would like to be more involved, and has experience as events coordinator in Photo Soc.

5.2.2 Sponsorship Officer x 2
Mhairi McGaan
Mhairi says that she is enthusiastic and feels she would be helpful.
Eddie Walsingham
Eddie says that he likes shouting at people down the phone! He helped during Race to Paris.

5.2.3 Fun Run Coordinator
Nicola Sims
Nicola says that she helped Karlie quite a bit this year and can use the same techniques and contracts.

5.2.4 Cloakroom Coordinator
Katherine Peck
Katherine is organised and wishes to get more involved with the Campaign.

5.2.5 Collections Officer x 2
Panayiotis Christoforou
Pan says that he went on Race to Paris so has some experience of Charities events. He is enthusiastic and thinks he could get money out of people (Julia: ‘Yes, he looks quite tough’).

5.2.6 Liaison Officer
Kat Yu
Kat is in the Hockey club so can encourage other clubs to get involved with events. She would be keen to work on clubs giving money raised from their events to charity.
Suzanne Doyle
Suez says that she would like to spread the Charities word.

5.2.7 Publicity Design Officer
Ben Nicholson
Ben has lots of experience and lists his past involvements with the Union. He is competent in IT design.

5.2.8 Publicity Distribution Officer
Ceri Putnam
Ceri has experience from other societies and has spent time doing PR. She is good at pestering people!

5.2.9 Halls Rep x 2
Matt Berry
Matt has been the New Hall Charities Convenor so he knows the drill!
Pippa Nutall
Pippa is enthusiastic and is back in hall next year, so thinks it would be nice to get her hall involved.

5.2.10 IT Officer
No interest. This position shall be elected at the EGM.
5.2.11 Ordinary Members
Clair Clark, Suzanne Doyle, Alex Gnanapragasam, Richard Harker, Will Wright, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Lindsay Macdougall, Jen Hall, Rachel Barber, Sandra Marchal, and Kat Yu become ordinary members.
5.2.12 Results
Mhairi and Nicola are elected as events officers.
Eddie is elected as a sponsorship officer.
Katherine is elected as cloakrooms officer.
Pan is elected as a collections officer.
Kat is elected as liaison officer.
Ben is elected as publicity design officer.
Ceri is elected as publicity distribution officer.
Matt and Pippa are elected as hall reps.
6.0 Election of Nominated Charities for 2007/2008
Dave explains the voting procedure and apologises for the Shelter mistake in the booklet. Julia explains that Shelter give homeless people a voice and lobby government on their behalf.
7.0 A.O.C.B
There is no other business.
8.0 Final Thanks
Dave thanks everyone for attending the AGM. He says it has been a great year and looks forward to another one.
